Our flag is at half staff today at Pease & Curren, in tribute to our beloved owner, Mr. Francis H. Curren Jr, who has passed away at the age of ninety three.

Francis H. Curren Jr. joined his father’s company in 1947 after fighting in the Pacific theatre during WWII. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1951. Mr. Curren took great pride in running Pease & Curren and retired in his late 80’s. The staff remembers him as a true gentleman, friendly and kind to all. It was said he bridged the gap for all generations at Pease & Curren. The company was truly his pride and joy.
Mr. Curren was a true adventurer. At age 87, an avid lifelong sailor, he sailed the Newport, RI to Bermuda race with his son, Francis “Kip” Curren III. He is fondly remembered by Kip through memories of many sailing trips and thoughts of their times together.
Mr. Curren received the International Precious Metal Institute Distinguished Achievement Award in 1996 for improving precious metals refining methods. In addition he has also recieved the Manufacturing Jewelers and Silversmiths of America Hall of Fame Award for Excellence in Refining.
Mr. Curren will be missed by all.
